Metro Detroit home sale prices up 7.3 percent in past year

Home sale prices increased 7.3 percent last month in the four-county Metro Detroit region, according to data released Monday that compares the market to the market a year ago.

Farmington Hills-based Realcomp II Ltd. says median home sale prices climbed to $140,000 last month from $115,250 in February 2014 in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb and Livingston counties.

Total sales were up in the region from 2,979 to 3,693 last month.

Monday’s data follow February’s 20.6 percent year-over-year increase in median home sale prices in the metro region. In February, the median home sale price was $129,000, up from $107,000 in February 2014.
