Assembly line robotics manufacturer The Paslin Co. plans to build a new plant in Shelby Township as part of a more than $20.6 million expansion plan.

As part of the plan, Paslin will also expand its operations at its three facilities in Warren, where it is headquartered.

The location of the new plant is not yet determined.

The expansion, which is expected to create 224 jobs, is supported by a $1.7 million performance-based grant from the Michigan Strategic Fund as well as tax abatements from Shelby Township and the city of Warren.

Paslin selected Shelby Township over sites in Alabama, Tennessee and Washington, according to a Michigan Economic Development Corp. memo.

Earlier this year, Connecticut-based Tower Three Partners acquired a majority stake in Paslin for approximately $100 million.
