Retailers moving into former A&P location in White Lake

Posted on August 9, 2012

The White Lake Township property owned by Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co. that languished for three years before the company walked away from it — and the rest of its Michigan leases — two years ago is boasting new retailers.

Replacing the former Farmer Jack store that A&P operated at the Highland Road site are a 28,046-square-foot Bed Bath & Beyond and a 25,660-square-foot Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Store.

Gershenson Realty & Investment, the broker for White Lake Marketplace, said in a release that it was also able to bring GameStop and Batteries Plus to the property.

The new stores join Walmart Supercenter, Home Depot, Office Max, Fashion Bug, Payless ShoeSource, Bath & Body Works, Bank of America and Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar.

In fall 2010, A&P had stopped paying rent on nearly 2 million square feet of retail and industrial space locally, triggering 24 lawsuits.
