Detroit's IT in the D gets long-term commitment

Posted on December 13, 2012

DETROIT, MI – IT in the D has legs.
On Wednesday morning the founding companies if the program – Quicken Loans, Compuware, GalaxE, Fathead and Marketing Associates – are signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Workforce Intelligence Network (WIN) to formalize a commitment to the program.
The partnership establishes WIN’s fiscal arm – the Southeast Michigan Community Alliance – as the fiscal agency for IT and the D, which will allow the program to apply for grants and funds as a 501c(3) entity.

With 28 students, IT in the D’s pilot program began in June with the goal of partnering local universities with leading tech companies in the Detroit area, providing training and professional mentoring.
Now in its second session with 26 students, IT in the D is partnering with 15 universities in Michigan.
The agreement signed today marks the companies’ commitment to the program through 2013 and beyond, a spokesman said.
