Royal Oak to develop former golf course into city's largest park

ROYAL OAK, Mich. (WXYZ) – Two years ago, voters in Royal Oak decided to turn the Normandy Oaks Golf Course into the city’s largest park.
A task force is meeting Thursday night to discuss five different groups who are vying for the job of developing the project, and turning it into a 40-acre park.

Currently the land is vacant. You’ll find overgrown one-time fairways paired with trees that have been cut down, many turned into mulch.

The public is welcome to comment on what they’d like to see in a new park and the developer. The task force will be hosting a meeting at the Mahana-Meininger Senior Community Center beginning at 6 p.m.
