Mid-Michigan real estate market improving

FLINT TOWNSHIP (WJRT) – (04/10/17) – Not all that long ago, if you wanted to sell your house in Mid-Michigan, you had to be very patient.

Houses are now selling 25 percent faster than they did last year. On average, they’re on the market for 56 days.

“The good houses, when they go on the market, will typically receive multiple offers within the first week or two,” said Rob Moen, East Central Association of Realtors president.

That can mean sellers can get their asking price, sometimes even more.

“Anytime you have multiple offers, that will help drive the sell price up and it almost turns into bidding wars,” Moen said.

As the area economy has improved, there are 30 percent fewer homes on the market.

“The builder that made our house is doing another four this summer in the neighborhood,” said Josh Monterosso, of Fenton Township.

Average home prices are up 12 percent compared to this time last year.
