Kroger plans $25 million distribution center in Chesterfield Township

LANSING — The Kroger Co. plans to open a nearly $25 million dry-goods distribution center in Chesterfield Township, creating 377 new jobs.

The Cincinnati-based grocer won a $2.1 million performance-based grant Tuesday from the Michigan Strategic Fund board. The Michigan Economic Development Corp. said the incentive was needed to win Kroger’s project over competing locations in Toledo, Ohio, and Fort Wayne, Ind., that also could serve Michigan stores.
