A large majority of Detroiters think walkability and retail are key to revival of the city’s neighborhoods, a Kresge Foundation-commissioned survey found.
The annual Detroit Reinvestment Index survey was launched in 2016 to measure perceptions of Detroit’s nascent comeback among national business leaders and, last year, metro Detroit entrepreneurs.
This year it expanded to ask residents in the city and region what they think about the city’s commercial corridors and its community revitalization strategies. The report indicated that most people surveyed want investment in local businesses to be a top priority for decision-makers.
