Saginaw native and ex-MSU Spartan basketball star Draymond Green has signed a franchise deal to open 20 Blink Fitness gyms in Michigan and Chicago.
Around 15 of them will come to Michigan, said Tom Shumaker, a Grosse Pointe native and former investment banker. He co-owns the franchises with Green.
Shumaker declined to specify locations, but said they are in talks and expect to announce definite plans for one of the 15,000- to 18,000-square-foot sites in Detroit. He said he and Green came together in the first place because they were both pitching Blink to open franchises in the city.
