Beaumont Health has opened its first medical office in Detroit in the GM Renaissance Center Tower 500.

Riverfront Family Medicine will initially be staffed by a family medicine doctor – Andrew Kotsis, D.O. – who will serve primary care needs of adults and children. Beaumont officials said the clinic will be expanded.

Services by appointment include same-day sick visits; preventive health care; chronic disease management for conditions such as diabetes, asthma and high blood pressure, and flu shots and other immunizations.

“By having a presence in the Renaissance Center, we can accommodate the needs of busy, working professionals, while providing convenient accessibility to Beaumont doctors and services,” said David Wood, M.D., chief medical officer of Beaumont Health, in a statement.

“We’re delighted to offer our services in the city where we can contribute to a healthier community and to Detroit’s economic growth as part of the city’s ongoing revitalization.”

There will be an open house and ribbon cutting Monday.

Riverfront Family Medicine is part of the Beaumont Medical Group, which employs about 600 primary care and specialty physicians in Southeast Michigan.

Beaumont Health is a new eight-hospital system formed by the merger of Royal Oak-based Beaumont Health System, Dearborn-based Oakwood Healthcare Inc. and Farmington Hills-based Botsford Healthcare.

Current medical provider tenants of the Renaissance Center include a dental clinic, a mind and body spa, a chiropractic clinic, an eye clinic and a fitness center.
