Winter—especially without snow—can be a dreary time in southeast Michigan. But, there are still events around the city to fill the time. In addition to the North American International Auto Show, soon to start its last winter in Detroit before a summer move, Ford will host a Winter Festival outside the iconic Michigan Central Station.
To note: construction is well underway inside the station, so there will be no tours or chances to peek inside this time.
The Michigan Central Station Winter Festival will run from January 18-27, to coincide with the auto show. Ford will have a 3D light show cast on the building three times an hour to show the past, present, and future of the iconic building. A large tent will be set up with vendor and activities, including a selection of artifacts recovered from the building. Food trucks and drink options will also be on hand.
Parking will be available on site and a shuttle will run from Cobo Center and surrounding neighborhoods.
The event is family friendly, and largely outside, so dress warm.
Hours: 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sunday Jan. 20th; 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. from Sunday to Thursday.
