Challenges

Friedman’s Construction and Design team was retained by North American Lighting, Inc., the largest non-affiliated lighting supplier in North America, to transform a two-story 75,000 square foot office building in Farmington Hills into their Engineering and Research Development Headquarters.

Half of the building, originally gutted warehouse, was converted into a state-of-the-art lighting test lab. The other half of the building was redesigned to accommodate office space for research and development.

Solutions

Highlights of the project include infill of an existing auditorium that created 2 new large conference rooms.

Trendway demountable walls, which are modular, and can be easily and quickly reconfigured to the company’s changing needs, were installed floor to ceiling in both the 1st and 2nd office spaces.

The transparent glass walls allow for an abundance of natural light and contribute to an open feeling in the space.

Design finishes include carpet, paint, and vinyl composite floor tile for a modern, updated look.

A large island with bar seating was incorporated into the spacious break room and kitchen that doubles as a collaborative work space.

Results

The project was completed on time and on-budget.
